Welcome to my research blog

Right up until I had my last big autistic burnout several years ago, I wanted to be a traditional academic, working and teaching within Higher Education. Following my burnout, my diagnoses as autistic and ADHD, and a lot of coaching and self-coaching, I now understand that it would not suit me to work within the academy as is, but that I still wish to research and make a lasting and useful contribution to knowledge. I promised myself that, when the assessment for my latest coaching qualification neared, I would set up a research blog so that I could embody the research element of my self-made “job title”: positive psychology coaching research practitioner.

On this blog, you can expect me to be sharing my own research about or responding to the latest thinking on:

  • Positive psychology and its concepts and how they relate to ADHD and/or autism
  • Positive psychology coaching (generally and through the ADHD and/or autism lens)
  • What it means to be an ADHD and/or autistic coach
  • How coaching and certain elements of coaching may be useful in building zest (energy, motivation, enjoyment) through self-regulation, and in supporting executive functioning

I will do this by sharing longer pieces of writing, shorter squibs, response pieces, as well as reviews of books and academic papers. I may also share written interviews and written responses from other autistic and/or ADHD researchers and practitioners (please reach out if you’re interested in exchanging or developing ideas).

I am really looking forward into getting back into developing and sharing my ideas about the field in which I work and the concepts and theories that fire up my interest, curiosity and flow. Thank you for reading this post about what to expect. It is greatly appreciated, and I hope my writing is of use.

All best wishes and take care,

Becci
